For those of you who have been to Vegas recently, you will probably have seen games like Spartacus and Van Helsing
sitting there. These are what WMS call "Colossal reels" slots and have 10 reels and 100 paylines, free spin features
and stacked wilds. The KISS slot was the first of these to be made available to play online
and has since been joined by Spartacus, Gladiator Of Rome and Giants Gold!
The Colossal Reels games are among my favourite games. At first glance, they look a bit complicated but they aren't. It's
simply two slots rolled into one with the additional benefit (in the case of KISS) that wilds appearing on the first game
can transfer to the second game.
The slot on the left has 25 paylines while the slot on the right has 75 paylines. You get a free spin feature offfering 8, 12 or 20
free spins when the KISS logos appear - 3 or more of them on any of the 10 reels. Well, actually, they only appear on
every other reel, left-to-right, so the maximum you can get is 6 logos.
Unusually for a WMS slot, you don't need the free spin feature to get the bigger wins. Being only low/medium volatility (also
unusual for a WMS game), most bigger wins are in the 20x-50x range and it's hard to get 100x or more BUT the wins are regular and it
is surprisingly easy to build up a decent balance on KISS.
One thing worth noting is that, unlike Spartacus, the Kiss slot has not been released into land-based casinos.
Like some other online-only slots featured on Games & Fruit Machines site, perhaps most notably
Microgaming's very popular Immortal Romance, it would definitely be a popular game
in land casinos - maybe WMS feel they have enough Colossal Reels out there games already: there are quite
a few now I guess.
Whether or not KISS wil ever be as popular with European players as cult slots like Book Of Ra
I'm not so sure but, speaking as someone who likes Ra too, KISS definitely deserves your attention! Also, check out the
Wizard Of Oz slot which is also now available here.
