You may not have heard of the Katana slot (Novomatic) but if you frequent land-based casinos
and play the Gaminator machines then the chances are, you soon will. It's a re-badged version of the Shogun
slot - pretty much identical but had a name change due presumably to licensing issues.
I've been playing Katana online at Sky Vegas
(which also has several other Novomatic games like Dolphins Pearl)
and although it is very volatile and *very* high variance, it's become pretty
much my favourite Novomatic game. I've had to wait a while to put it on Games & Fruit Machines
though because finding a free demo version of Katana (that actually worked!) proved quite tricky!
While most UK bookie regulars will probably already be familiar with Novomatic's Reel King,
I'd urge you to give the Katana slot a spin. You should at least try and get the free spin feature to see how
this game ticks as that's where the real treasure lies. In the land version you get 15 spins while here in the
online version of Katana you only get 10 but the RTP (percentage return) of the online version is better at over 94% so
I presume the reels are laid out slightly differently. Or maybe it's the retriggers.
The free spin feature adds extra Katana scatter symbols (a "Katana" is a Samurai sword) so retriggers are
pretty frequent. I've had features with 70 free spins before now. I've also had whole sessions without the
feature! Oh and you also get expanding wild symbols on all reels which is what pays the big bucks.
The Katana slot is better played than explained. Watch out for the mean streaks and don't be put off - you need
a hefty bankroll sometimes but when you get to the free spin feature you'll probably see where the potential
of Katana really lies. Check out the Katana slots site
for more information and a video of the free spin feature in action if you can't be bothered to play it
