Now they are part of the SG interactive stable Barcrest and the other brands get access to all SG’s official branded deals, such as the Monopoly series of slot games based on the popular board game. WMS enjoyed great success with Super Monopoly Money and sister developer Barcrest have been chosen to present the Monopoly big event slot, which with their big bet feature in play, is great news for slot gamblers like me.

I’m pleased to see Barcrest handle one of these titles, the original Monopoly slot always had a great fan following on the casino floor but it was starting to look its age and a raft of fresh titles incorporating new features and gameplay mechanics has breathed new life into the series. Barcrests take on the game is a 5x3 reeler with 20 active pay-lines, all pretty straightforward, though there is a massive bet range all the way up to 500.00 credits to bring the high rollers into this themed game.

One of my favourite aspect of Barcrest slots is their big bet feature, if you have played any of the Rainbow Riches series of games you will be familiar with this, if not, let me elaborate. Before any spin you can choose to lock yourself into a set large value big bet for 5 spins, there are two tiers on this game, 20 or 30 credits, in all Barcrest games these tend to increase the overall RTP and add specific features.

On Monopoly big event playing the 20 credit big bet opens up a progressive multiplier for each of the five spins, pretty good but at 30 credits the super big bet opens up a wheel of fortune style pick which will offer either the same progressive multiplier value, a fixed x5 multiplier or, if you are lucky, persistent sticky wilds for the duration of the five spins. Barcrest’s big bet feature always has, and I assume always will, be geared to rewarding players at higher stakes.

The base game play doesn’t exclude hobby or fun players either, it’s superbly well developed from a graphics point of view and whilst the overall RTP is lower, there is a plethora of great bonus features, multipliers and wilds floating around to keep things interesting. This is a far cry from older Barcrest titles such as the classic Cashino Fruit Machine slot game or the Elvis top 20 slot.

Overall this game has a lot going for it, there is both real cash mode and demo play, full mobile compatibility and a loveable theme to begin with. Add in some great production and design work, solid win potential and a decent betting range and this is a slot which should tick most player’s boxes in one way or another.
