FOBT fans of games such as Reel King and the popular if
somewhat dated Barcrest game Rainbow Riches may well
have come across The Pig Wizard slot game on their travels. This jackpot game has got a bit of a cult
following and although volatile and streaky, is capable of some very big payouts.
If you are a seasoned slots player then you may well recognise a few elements in The Pig Wizard from
other popular games. The random Wild Reels feature is straight out of WMS Gaming's
Wizard Of Oz Ruby Slippers and even the sound for 5 of a kind is
lifted straight from the older WMS games like Zeus and Palace Of Riches. In fact, the Bonus symbol sound
is also the same sound found in Microgaming's "Ho Ho Ho" slot so this isn't an entirely original game!
However, those relatively minor things aside - and let's be honest, lots of slots "borrow" from other
popular games anyway - The Pig Wizard is actually a pretty good game with interesting free spin features
and enough going on to keep the balance between winning decent sums and entertainment value pretty close to
what you'd hope: not an easy achievement to be fair.
I've noticed over time that there are actually two versions of Pig Wizard out there but with only
minor differences. The first version (as seen above) is more accurately titled "Harry Trotter, The Pig Wizard" while the
other version is simply "The Pig Wizard". The former version has a different stacked symbol resembling, one
assumes, the Hogwarts school badge. It also spins a bit quicker and the symbols feel a little more lo-fi
but as far as game-play goes, the two versions appear to be identical.
